– Thunderball Grotto –

Thunderball Grotto is an amazing underwater cave system situated just west of Staniel Cay, it is the perfect spot for scuba diving, snorkelling and wading, as it is packed full of exotic marine life and a wonderful colourful selection of coral reef.
Thunderball Grotto got its name and was made famous when the 1965 James Bond spy film – “Thunderball” was filmed there, the crew thought it was such a fantastic area that they actually shot “Never Say Never Again” here in 1983.
The caves of Thunderball Grotto are the epitome of natural beauty, with light beaming through from every angle into the crystal clear waters, lighting up the beautiful colours of the hundreds of fish and coral reef.
The entrance is almost hidden from the untrained eye, which just adds to the mystery of the caves. Although this is a popular dive site, you don’t have to be a diver to access the caves, if you are not planning to snorkel or dive, you can visit at low tide. However at high tide, diving equipment is necessary, there are five entrances for divers which will lead you through the tunnel of caves and into the different caverns.
